The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said today that the only condition under which it is possible to achieve peace with Russia is victory on the battlefield in the country, the UNIAN agency reported, referring to his statement during a visit to the village of Yagodno in the Chernihiv region.
Zelenskyy: “Peace with Russia can only be achieved with our victory on the battlefield in Ukraine”
“How can peace be achieved with Russia? Only with a victory on the battlefield in our country can the Russian Federation be stopped.”, said Zelenskyy.
According to him, otherwise, after Ukraine, Russia will move towards Europe.
“You can already see the result of what the occupiers are doing to the cities of our country.”, said the Ukrainian president.
Zelenskyy stressed that to achieve this goal, Ukraine needs everything that its partners have and can provide in the form of arms and ammunition assistance. He expressed gratitude to all partners for the support already given, which will help save the lives of Ukrainians.
President Zelenskyy was in the village of Yagodno, in the northern Ukrainian region of Chernihiv, to pay tribute to the courage of the nearly 400 residents who were held by the Russians for 27 days in the basement of a local school before being released, British media reported.
During his visit to Jagodno, Zelenskyy was accompanied by the German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejcinović-Burić.
During the past two weeks, Zelenskyy visited several locations on the front in Ukraine.
