Russian President Vladimir Putin has told French President Emmanuel Macron that Moscow is open to talks with Kyiv, the Kremlin said.

“During a lengthy telephone conversation initiated by the French side, Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron had a serious and significant exchange of views on all aspects of the situation around Ukraine.”, the statement said.

Putin told Macron that a solution to the Ukraine crisis was possible only if Russia’s legitimate security interests were unconditionally taken into account, including:

  • Recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea.
  • Demilitarization and denationalization of the Ukrainian state.
  • Ensuring the neutral status of Ukraine
