The city of Kherson in southern Ukraine, which Russia claims is under its control, will switch to using the ruble on May 1, Russian state media reported.

Kiril Stremusov, deputy head of the region’s military-civilian administration, said the transition would take place over a four-month period, during which the Russian ruble and the Ukrainian hryvnia would be in circulation.

“After that period, the region will completely switch to using the Russian currency.”, Stremusov added.
