The Ukrainian armed forces have issued a statement saying the Russian military has begun “intense shelling” of its units in the east of the country, the BBC reported.

“Russia also fired rockets at Boryspil Airport near Kyiv and several other airports.”, the statement said.
The statement added that the Ukrainian air force had repulsed an airstrike by Russia. The statement denied reports of Russian paratroopers in the southern port city of Odessa.
