The Russian Ministry of Defense conducted a test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, Russian state media reported on April 11. The missile was reportedly launched from the Kapustin Yar launch complex in Russia’s southern Astrakhan region and hit a target at a range in Kazakhstan.
Russia has tested an intercontinental ballistic missile
On March 29, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that strategic military training with the Yars intercontinental ballistic missile system had begun.
Yars or RS-24 is a strategic intercontinental ballistic missile system with solid propellant. It was adopted by the Russian Federation in 2009 and had a stated range of 11,000 kilometers and an explosive power equal to one million tons of TNT. Russian propagandists claim that no air defense system can shoot down the missiles, each capable of completely destroying a small city.
