EU can increase the fund for Ukraine
EU may soon increase the fund for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine up to 3.5 billion euros, a senior representative of the Union said today.
Under the plan, drawn up by the EU’s high representative for foreign policy and security, Josep Borrell, EU member states would receive financial incentives worth one billion euros to send more artillery ammunition to Kyiv. In comparison, another billion euros would fund the joint procurement of new missiles.
“If there is an agreement on this package of two billion euros, the resources from the European Peace Fund will be exhausted.”, the official said.
According to him, member states should decide if and when they want to implement a new possible top of 3.5 billion euros in aid to Ukraine.
