The Ukrainian Air Force announced today that it shot down 45 Iranian-made drones launched by Russia on New Year’s Eve.

“On the night of December 31, 2022, to January 1, 2023, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones.”, the Ukrainian Air Force said.
According to them, 13 drones were shot down before midnight and 32 after midnight.
It was not specified whether other drones hit their targets.
Kyiv police chief Andriy Nebitov posted a photo on Facebook showing the remains of a drone with the words “Happy New Year” in the Russian language.
“That’s all you need to know about the terrorist state and its army.”, he wrote.
On the other hand, the pro-Russian authorities in eastern Ukraine announced that a civilian was killed during Ukrainian shelling today in Yasinuvata, in the Donetsk region.
According to them, Donetsk and the neighboring town of Makeyevka were also targeted by the Ukrainian army, shortly after midnight, and 15 people were wounded.
