The famous actress shared a photo of herself posing with her daughter Zahara and wrote:
“I’m also glad to share in the advocacy with Zahara — and for her presence to calm my nerves before today’s press conference.”

The 46-year-old Oscar winner arrived in Capitol Hill with a 17-year-old girl to express her support for victims of domestic violence and to persuade the Senate to renew the Violence Against Women Act, which provides basic protection to victims.
“The reason many people find it difficult to get out of a situation of violence is because someone makes them feel worthless. When there is silence from Congress, which has been too busy for a decade to renew the Violence Against Women Act, that sense of worthlessness intensifies. You think, ‘Maybe the bully is right. Maybe I’re not worth that much.”, said Jolie, trying not to let emotions overwhelm her.
“As those who have survived the violence know, the victims of our failed system are not allowed to be angry. You need to be calm and patient … But try to stay calm when you feel like someone is holding your head under water and drowning. Try to stay calm when you see that someone you love is hurt …”
