Shakira barely held back tears as she admitted she’s had a very tough year since breaking up with Pique, who allegedly cheated on her with current girlfriend Clara Chia Marti.
“This song has in a way become an anthem for many women. You know, I had a very difficult year after my breakup. Writing this song was very important to me. It was a healthy way for me to express my emotions. After the release of the song, I felt that I not only had fans, but that I had a sisterhood of women who have been through the same thing, who think like me, who feel what I feel, who have faced the same things as me. You know, I didn’t write the song for me, but for all the women out there who needed a forum and a voice to represent them.”, she said.
