Shakira is still healing from her split from Gerard Pique, with whom she was together for 11 years.
Shakira with text about infidelity for first New Year after split from Pique
The 45-year-old singer posted a lyric about getting over infidelity on the first New Year’s Day since their breakup.
“Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has surgical hands. Even if someone has hurt us, we must continue to trust others. When faced with scorn, know your worth. Because there are more good people than bad people. There are more people with empathy than with indifference. Those who leave us are fewer than those who stay by our side.”
“Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil from which our future will grow and make us more human so that we can continue to love despite suffering from a broken heart.”, reads her text.
Shakira and Pique have been together since 2011 and have two children – sons Milan (9) and Sasha (7). They announced their separation in June last year.
A few months later, Pique was photographed in public with his new girlfriend Clara Chia Marti.
For Christmas, Shakira posted a photo with her sons in the desert.
“This Christmas in the desert, in search of serenity.”, she wrote.
