Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday replaced three regional governors, including the head of Lugansk, where fierce fighting is taking place.
Zelenskyy replaced three regional governors
The decision to dismiss the local officials was announced on the Telegram channel by a government representative in the Ukrainian Parliament, but he did not specify the reasons for the dismissals.
The governor of Luhansk, Serhii Heidai, has often commented on the fighting in the northeastern region of the country, which borders Russia.
Zelenskyy also dismissed the governor of Odesa, on the Black Sea, and the Knelnicki region, in the west.
Zelenskyy, sensitive to Western criticism of widespread corruption in Ukraine, fired several senior officials earlier this year.
Five regional governors were either fired or resigned themselves.
