Kanye West for President of the United States – a joke, a strategic trick, or a very serious candidacy?

The American rapper Kanye West announced on Twitter that he is running for president of the United States of America in the upcoming 2020 elections.

In a Twitter message posted on Independence Day, he did not say whether he would run as a stand-alone candidate or as a representative of a party. In any case, at this moment it would not be legally possible to run through a party, because the elections will be held in four months.

To run as an independent candidate, Kanye West must collect a certain number of signatures and register within the given deadline.

He said publicly that he would challenge Republican and incumbent President Donald Trump and his political rival, Democrat Joe Biden, in November.

West and his also famous wife, Kim Kardashian, visited Trump at the White House. At the 2018 meeting, West gave a bizarre speech about parallel universes and his bipolar disorder, which he claims is a lack of sleep.

The latest announcement of the American rapper caused an avalanche of reactions among his 29 million followers.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, known for his eccentric outbursts, also supported his post on Twitter.

Also, his wife Kim Kardashian, quickly retweeted his tweet, despite the fact that she put an American flag.

Kim Kardashian has been very active in the criminal justice reform movement in recent years and has successfully lobbied President Trump for the release of several prisoners.

This is not the first time Kanye West has claimed he will run for the highest function in White House. Five years ago, at the MTV Awards ceremony, West said he had decided to run in the 2020 presidential election. But he said in November last year that he had changed his plans and would run for office in 2024.

What’re your thoughts, would you vote for Kanye West?
