In a gesture of support for his father, King Charles III, Prince Harry is set to return to the United Kingdom following the recent revelation of the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.
A reliable source disclosed, “The duke did speak with his father about his diagnosis. He will be traveling to the U.K. to see His Majesty in the coming days.”
Harry Is Going Home To Support His Father
Buckingham Palace officially announced King Charles’s diagnosis today, sharing that “a form of cancer” was identified during a surgical procedure conducted to address his benign enlarged prostate in late January. In response to this news, King Charles has left the royal estate in Sandringham and is headed back to London, where he will promptly commence outpatient treatment. His previously scheduled public engagements have been temporarily postponed, but the king will continue to fulfill his state business and official paperwork duties as usual.
Importantly, even though the cancer was detected during a procedure related to prostate enlargement, sources have clarified that King Charles was not diagnosed with prostate cancer.
In its official statement, the palace conveyed, “The king is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.” The statement further explained, “His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
It’s worth noting that Charles had been discharged from a London hospital following his prostate treatment just last month. At that time, the palace expressed his gratitude, saying,
“His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days.”
Currently, it remains uncertain whether Prince Harry’s visit will also offer him the opportunity to reunite with another member of the royal family who was recently hospitalized, namely Catherine, Princess of Wales. Princess Kate was discharged from the hospital in January after undergoing abdominal surgery. Her recovery is ongoing, and she is not expected to return to public duties until after March.
